Mel Scripting: for Artists
Description: Maya's embedded language, or MEL, in conjunction with Maya's expression language, offers flexibility in the design of all aspects of 3D production, from particle system design and dynamics, to modeling and character animation. This class offers an in-depth study into the techniques available in Maya including interface design, scripting, utilities and procedures.

Mudbox Intro: Overview
Description:
Mudbox features brush based sculpting tools and unique 3d layer system for non-destructive editing of millions of polygons and advanced surface extraction tools for Normal and Displacement maps in 8, 16 and 32 color between arbitrary meshes. Mudbox can be used to enhance the look of most digital characters and environments. Its interface is very intuitive. Anyone can pick it up in a few hours to a day or so.

This is a hands on class mixed with lecture that covers techniques for Sculpting characters and enviroments and outputting displacement and normal maps.

Motion Builder: Introduction
Motionbuilder is a leading Motion Capture Data Processor package. It is becoming the natural partner to translate and alter Mocap data alongside of MAYA, XSI, and 3DMAX. This course will cover; how to bring models in from one application, edit/alter them and create animated walk and action cycles, plus, the ability to add facial animation, then, export out to another.
Finally, motionbuilder enables conversion of older/differing animation data created on different core software to be updated and reused in current titles. It has a universal file format which allows 3D data to flow effortlessly between different software applications.

Next Gen Modeling Techniques
Description:
Using Reference and Photogrametry Techniques
Modeling with Subdivision Surfaces
Procedural Modeling tools (stair tool example)

Shaders Intro: Overview
Description: Intro to Shading:

This lecture is inteded for a very broad audience presenting the craft of shading as a hybrid discipline. Shaders are becoming much more prevelant in real-time computer graphics, presenting new opportunities and challenges in the pursuit of increased visual quality. This course is intended to shed light on the role of shaders as applied to CG rendering in general as well as provide general guidlines for best practices when working with hardware shaders.

ZBrush Introduction
ZBrush can be used to convert low-res models to hi-res and then sculpt detail. It is ideal for creating detail such as wrinkles and creases and the export this information as a map or a hi-res model.

This course covers the ZBrush interface workflow, sculpting, painting and maps with ZBrush. Exercises will include importing 3D objects from Maya sculpting hi-res detail and exporting the normal and displacement maps back to Maya.

Python in Maya: for Artists
Description: In this introductory class the artist will learn to use Python Scripting within Maya. This class is similar to the Mel Scripting for Artists class but translated into using Python. This is a hands on class. It’s all about automation. Anything that is done over and over can be automated by a script and this class is the first step towards that goal. In this class you will automate al list of commands into one command. You will create a window with buttons that trigger your commands.
